About us
Local Authorities have now brought together all their children’s
services under one general Director of Children and Young Peoples'
Services and have formed Childrens' Trusts or similar. The ensuing
new priorities have meant that the roles of all support staff have
become a key area for training and development. In Sussex, there
are three local authorities covering Brighton
& Hove, East Sussex and
West Sussex.
The three Sussex local authorities have created this
website to:
- provide information about opportunities for accredited training
for support staff in schools, in order that the enhanced skills,
knowledge and understanding of the school workforce will enhance
pupil attainment;
- support the Training and Development Agency (TDA) remit to
provide occupational standards, accredited training and CPD
pathways for all Support Staff nationally;
- help schools in identifying appropriate training and
qualifications for school support staff, to underpin their
performance management;
- help staff when considering potential career pathways by
showing progression opportunities within and across different
occupational roles within the school workforce;
- enable school support staff to access a localised version of
the National
Support Staff Qualifications Framework developed by the
TDA;
- support the Workforce Remodelling and Extended Schools
programmes.
National Support Staff Qualifications Framework
The framework has been created by the TDA to support Local
Authorities (LAs) and schools in identifying appropriate training
and qualifications for school support staff. It will also help in
considering potential career pathways and showing progression
opportunities within and across different occupational roles within
the school workforce. Details about it are included on the TDA’s
website.
