Health and Safety Co-ordinator - Wendy Howard

Wendy is a teaching assistant (TA) and Governor at The Cavendish School who completed a Health & Safety Risk Assessment Qualification course.

The following is Wendy’s account of the impact in school:

Since attending the Health Safety & Risk Assessment qualification Course and passing it along with Debbie Leslie we have both been appointed as Health & Safety coordinators for Cavendish Secondary School.

This entails us checking all rooms, offices, stair, and corridors plus the outside of the building and grounds for any health and safety issues. We then bring them to the attention of whoever is the best person to deal with it and checking that it has been dealt with as efficiently as possible. Reports are then sent to the relevant people in each department.

Recently we have had someone in to give us advice on security as we have so many entrances and exits. We are now in the process of bringing our fire risk assessments up to date with the help of the fire services
