
Assessment for HLTA Status
The assessment happens after the following have occurred:
- a discussion with the headteacher or line manager ensuring that
the candidate feels confident all standards are able to be
demonstrated, for example through the use of a self-review
OR
- completion of an HLTA training route as a pathway to HLTA
assessment
AND
- the candidate has Level 2 or equivalent qualifications for
English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy. Original certificates
must be brought to Day 1 of Preparation.
- funding is secured, either from the Local Authority or funding
body
- attendance on 3 days (or equivalent) of Preparation for
Assessment (can be incorporated into a training programme).

The Assessment Process
The assessment consists of compiling a portfolio of written
task-related evidence matched to the HLTA Standards followed by a
half-day visit from an assessor.
